About couples and marriage counselling

Relationships are one of life’s most rewarding yet challenging experiences. Couples counselling offers a safe and supportive space to explore your unique dynamic, overcome obstacles, and build a deeper connection. Whether you’re dealing with recurring conflicts, navigating betrayal or simply seeking to strengthen your bond, couples counselling can help. At Crest Counselling, we welcome couples at any stage of their relationship, from new partnerships to decades-long commitments, to work on communication, trust, and shared understanding.

What is a Relationship Health Assessment?

A relationship health assessment is a structured process designed to provide a clear picture of your partnership based on Gottman principles. It begins with an intake session as a couple, where we explore your relationship’s history, challenges, and strengths. You’ll also complete a detailed questionnaire outside of the sessions to gather additional insights. Following this, each partner will have an individual session to share their perspective in a confidential space. Finally, we’ll come together for a feedback session, where you’ll receive a comprehensive overview of the findings and an evidence-based action plan tailored to your relationship’s needs.

At Crest Counselling, we strongly recommend that all couples undergo a relationship health assessment as part of their counselling journey. It’s like a check-up for your relationship, offering valuable insights and a roadmap for meaningful change. The assessment isn’t just for couples in crisis; it’s a proactive step toward building a resilient, fulfilling partnership.

Can we still receive therapy if we don't complete a Relationship Health Assessment?

Yes, you can still receive therapy without completing a relationship health assessment. However, it’s important to note that skipping the assessment is like asking a doctor to heal a broken bone without taking an X-ray first. While it’s possible to address immediate concerns, a deeper understanding of the underlying issues often leads to more effective approaches.
